Our Accreditations & Memberships:

We are committed to promoting the spirit and intent of the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and have full accreditation with the BANKSETA (ETQA – 557033).

We are also affiliated members of the Micro Finance Management Institute (MFMI) and an accredited service provider of the National Credit Regulator (NCR). CSTI is continuously seeking accreditation with relevant industry and regulatory bodies.

Where We Operate:

We provide our skills development service throughout Africa. We can deliver in-house training or we will organise a training facility in your town or area to suit your training needs. We also have our own private training facility in Stellenbosch and an in-house training venue in Centurion, Pretoria, South Africa.

Our dedicated sales team will help you decide on the appropriate learning solution, choose between public training opportunities or customised inhouse training, and deal with the booking process. Our training coordination team manages all public training events, venues and travel arrangements. On request they can also help you select and organise your venues, travel and accommodation for in-house programmes.

Compuscan Academy’s learner support department also continuously conducts follow-ups during and after the training delivery to make sure you’re satisfied with the results. A Track Record of Results

  • We participated in the Micro Lenders Association’s (now Micro Finance SA) Sector Skills Research Project (2003/2004).
  • We participated in the Micro Finance Institution’s Responsible Lending Workshops launched in 2004 (BANKSETA Funded).
  • We participated in the Authenticated Early Debit Order System (AEDOS) Training Programme of Micro Finance SA.
  • We participated in the Debt Counsellor Training Initiative of the NCR. (2007/2008)
  • Teba Bank - Conducted a Skills Needs Analysis and Research for Customised Training. We designed, developed and implemented a Credit Management Programme consisting of three accredited training modules. Conducted train-the-trainer sessions to enable internal trainers to conduct the training in-house. Maintain and manage their Learner Database, Assessment and Certification.
  • Capitec Bank - Identified together with Capitec the different areas of training required. Designed and developed 4 Credit Training Modules to address their specific skills needs. Implementation of Modules: Facilitation, Assessment & Certification.
  • Woolworths - Based on their need to understand the impact of Debt Counselling (as instituted by the NCA) on the Debt Collections process, we designed and developed a customised training module for debt collection agents.
  • Lewis Stores - Designed and developed customised training material to train their credit underwriters on the National Credit Act.
  • BANKSETA Skills Audit - Successfully completed the BANKSETA’s ‘Industry Skills Research Project’ in collaboration with Kheta Consulting during 2007. (Interviewed 391 MFI’s nationally)
  • BANKSETA Training Voucher Projects – Since 2005, we have participated in the training voucher projects of the BANKSETA aimed at SME's who through the project are able to apply for funded skills training.
  • We were awarded a national tender by the BANKSETA to develop and conduct life long learning workshops on the National Credit Act where 417 learners attended the training.
  • We have ventured to Nigeria and Zambia to train the credit staff of Blue Financial Services on ‘An Introduction to Credit Management’ and 'Credit Assessment Practices and Methodologies.'
  • In collaboration with SWISS CONTACT, we conducted training for Business Development and Service Providers (BDSP's), i.e. the intermediaries between SME's and Financial Institutions, on credit scoring and assessment to enable them to assess the credit risk of a SME.
  • We have been approved for a grant from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Commonwealth Secretariat to train SME’s in Financially Literacy as a means to assist them to manage their personal and business finances effectively thereby promoting their access to credit from formal financial institutions.

Credit Management & Micro-Finance Skills Training

Compuscan Academy provides effective, appropriate and accredited training covering many skills required within the credit and financial services industry with a specific focus on the micro-finance, banking sectors and other credit providers. Our training solutions include skills programmes that provide delegates with an understanding to the changing world of credit and equip them with the knowledge, skills and abilities to use appropriate credit management principles, credit assessment practices and methodologies, control credit accounts and conduct collections as well as identify and manage fraud in financial institutions to name a few.

Our training programmes also cove topics such as debt counselling, financial skills for credit providers and how to effectively market credit products and services to consumers within the confinements of the National Credit Act. We have also recognised the need to not only train credit providers on responsible credit granting skills, but also to train the borrowers of these credit providers on responsible money management and to allow them to use the credit received responsibly.

Business and Personal Development Training

We further provide education and training solutions to companies that address specific business and personal development training needs that will not only ensure organisational effectiveness, but will also increase personal and team effectiveness thus leading to improved productivity and profitability. Our training programmes include: Management Development Programme, Supervisory Skills, Customer Service, Personal Finance, Communication and Selling Products and Services.

Financial Literacy Programs

Currently our emerging SME market is faced with many difficulties relating to access to credit and the effective management of credit accounts. This consequently restricts the expansion of business operations due to the inability of gaining access to new as well as additional credit. Compuscan Academy hosts a range of Financial Literacy Programs to enhance the existing knowledge base and skills of new and existing SME’s. The programs mainly focus on: defining current financial problems; exploring possible solutions; understanding the National Credit Act; understanding credit profiles/credit history; ways to get access to credit; defining credit information; defining a credit score; influences on SME’s credit scores; managing credit accounts responsibly and applying credit methodologies.

Research and Development

Compuscan Academy has its own in-house research and development department that ensures that all our courses are developed in line with the requirements of South Africa’s National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as well as with current industry best practices. Our learning material is developed from current and relevant sources of information and incorporates necessary legislative and regulatory frameworks where applicable.

Design and Development of Customised Training Programmes

Compuscan Academy will develop training material customised to organisations specific skills development needs and requirements. Incorporated in this training material will be the organisation’s specific policies, products, procedures and processes so as to ensure that the training is relevant and meets the skills needs identified through an in-depth skills needs analysis.

Skills Development Consulting

Compuscan Academy can assist clients with skills planning in the development of their Workplace Skills Plans and its implementation, as well as with the reviewing of skills development initiatives implemented through the reporting of training conducted on an annual basis in the form of Annual Training Reports that need to be submitted to the SETA on an annual basis. This will include conducting an indepth skills needs analysis of their organisation to determine what skills they have and what skills they need in order to become and remain competitive within the business arena.

Mentoring Services

Every learner who attended one of our skills programmes or short courses and who have completed and submitted the assessment for the specific programme will be entitled to receive three (3) months worth of FREE mentoring and assistance from our qualified facilitators and assessors to ensure that they are able to practice and implement the skills learned during the training. Upon completion of the three month mentoring programme, learners can subscribe for additional mentoring by paying a monthly subscription fee.

NCA Compliance Readiness Audits

With the onset of the National Credit Act (NCA) many credit providers find themselves in a situation where compliance issues have a noticeable impact on the processes and procedures followed by the institution in terms of granting credit in line with the Act. We at Comuscan Academy have developed a service to assist credit providers with the process of preparing for their formal yearly audit process by identifying to what extent they are compliant or non-compliant with the legislation as well as what actions or steps they need to implement to meet the compliance requirements.

Design and Development of Induction and/or Product/Organisation Wide Training Programmes

Induction, Orientation and Product/Organization Programmes are becoming increasingly important in the business world. Investors in people recognise that employees need to understand their role and how their role contributes to the success of the organisation. Compuscan Academy designs and develops Induction, Product or Organisation Training Programmes for organisations to welcome new employees and to prepare them for their new role within the organisation. These programmes motivate the new recruits to operate at their full potential and also increases product knowledge.
