Donating Soccer Balls to Needy Kids in the Spirit of the World Cup

In the spirit of the Soccer World Cup 2010, Compuscan, one of the largest credit bureaus in South Africa, is donating soccer balls to needy schools and communities as part of their nation wide goodwill campaign.

In these economically depressed areas, where luxuries like toys or sports equipment are scarce commodities many children, who are extremely excited about the World Cup have seldom or never touched a real soccer ball.

Playing soccer builds them into a team, keep them out of trouble, makes them forget how hard their life can be and, most of all, give them hope for a better tomorrow.

Compuscan's Sales Team started to distribute a 1000 soccer balls to needy children country-wide since the beginning of 2010, putting smiles on many little faces.

So far we have donated balls to the following schools and orphanages: the Temperance Town Primary School in Gordonsbay, the Vlaeberg community just outside of Stellenbosch, the Saint Thomas Primary School in Malmesbury, the Philena Primary School in Centurion, Johannesburg, the Olivers House in Benoni, the Abraham Kriel Orphanage in Potchefstroom. We have also handed out balls in the following needy areas: Sicelo, the Mamelodi township, Mokopane, Thembisa, Sebokeng, Katlehong & Soweto in Gauteng and we are currently busy distributing the balls in the Freestate, Eastern Cape & Kwazulu-Natal.

It is amazing how a small object like a soccer ball can have such a huge impact on the lives of these children!Compuscan is very proud of this initiative and aims to continue giving back to the community in innovative and creative ways.
