Looking Back on 2010 and Looking Ahead to 2011 Print
January 2011

Compuscan wants to thank our entire client base for their valued support throughout last year. 2010 year was truly a great year for Compuscan and without our clients’ support it would not be possible.

Looking back, 2010 started off with a bang with the great news of Compuscan being selected as the official host of the NLR data. Basically putting Compuscan on par with its competitors and adding more value to our data in terms of data quality, recency, scoring power and possibilities etc. It has been a long wait, but it was worth it.

Secondly, we launched the new Proloan SMS Module in February 2010 which we trust have improved your communication with your customers tremendously. During the Soccer World Cup we launched a goodwill campaign by donating branded Compuscan soccer balls country wide to needy children. What a great initiative this was!

In terms of our expansion into Africa, we were very proud to win a tender to establish a credit bureau in Ethiopia during 2010. Now Compuscan officially has a footprint in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Uganda and Ethiopia.

Another development during 2010 worth mentioning is the new Profund system. Profund is an online “gateway” which enables:
  • Credit providers to disburse their loan products to as many customers as possible without the additional expenses of appointing sales consultants;
  • Micro lenders to earn commission by offering loans risk free on behalf of multiple micro lenders / finance houses); consumers to find the best possible loan by comparing a range of quotes from various funders
  • Credit managers to track and administrate all disbursed loans.

Compuscan also underwent major hardware upgrades and upgraded to the new 11G Oracle database which ensured great enhancements to Compuscan as our clients’ credit bureau of choice.

We were also very proud of our sister company, Compuscan Academy, which received accreditation to host the National Certificate in Micro Finance as well as trained previously unemployed learners as part of a joint initiative between BANKSETA, Miloc and Banken.

In terms of things to look out for in 2011, we are working hard to get new value adding data sets ready on our database. These data sets include CIPRO data, commercial judgements, deeds data, contact information and SDFS fraud data which will give you the ability to make credit decision with even more confidence.

We are also very busy developing an online tracing system to help our clients find those who are ‘untraceable”! Our motto is: You can run, but you cannot hide!

The Compuscore Generation 2 was launched in March 2011 and our new Proloan system will also be unveiled during 2011.

Here’s to a great 2010 and an even greater 2011!
