POPIA draft regulations have been published for comment.

The Information Regulator has published the draft for the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”) draft regulations. Those in the industry are invited to comment on the published regulations by the 7th of November this year. Understanding and complying with these regulations is integral to our industry; you have the chance to give your commentary before the final regulations are published.

To comment on the regulations, the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development provides the following guidelines in the Government Gazette of 8 September 2017:

Any person wishing to comment on the draft Regulations is invited to submit written comments to the Information Regulator on or before 07 November 2017. Comments should be marked for the attention of Ms M Mphelo, and –

a) if they are delivered by e-mail, they can be sent to inforegcomments@justice.gov.za;

b) if they are forwarded by post, be addressed to –

  • 0001

c) if delivered by hand be delivered at –

  • The Information Regulator
